Velaura AI raises $110M at $1B+ for low-power chips

The AI build-out keeps slamming into a wall cash cannot move: watts. A Santa Clara chip shop just got priced like it already found a way around it. Velaura AI closed a $110 million Series A on Tuesday at a valuation of more than $1 billion, selling investors on silicon that squeezes more AI work out of the power budget they already have. Wispr hits $2B in a Menlo-led round to outgrow dictation

Two signals that AI is moving from clever demos to durable categories: money piling into voice interfaces, and open-source tooling for running agents safely inside companies. Voice AI startup Wispr raised $280 million in a Series B led by Menlo Ventures at a $2 billion valuation, and it's positioning itself as far more than a dictation app. The round brings total funding to $361 million and lands as the company claims 100,000 business customers.

It is worth slowing down over, because the deal is less about OpenRouter's revenue than about who gets to sit in the middle of every machine's decision to spend money on intelligence.

Caterpillar, Cummins, Eaton and Ford pivot to AI's power boom

The AI buildout's quiet winners aren't chipmakers — they're the industrial manufacturers retooling factories to feed data-center demand for power equipment. A Wall Street Journal report out this week shows the money is already landing in orders and backlogs, not just strategy decks. Caterpillar, Cummins, Eaton, and Ford are among the US industrial companies pivoting their businesses to feed a booming market for once-prosaic power equipment: generators, switchgear, transformers, and energy…
