Palantir's federal AI contracts: the list, explained

Palantir Technologies is the U.S. federal government's dominant AI data platform. Since October 2023, federal agencies have obligated more than $2.8 billion to Palantir in prime contract awards, with the Department of Defense accounting for roughly $2 billion of that total. This page tracks the major contracts — who's paying, what the software does, and how the dollars stack up.

Last updated: August 16, 2026. All figures from public federal spending records (USAspending.gov) and published reporting.

The big picture

| Segment | FY2025 revenue | Share | |---|---|---| | U.S. Government | ~$2.0 billion | ~41% | | U.S. Commercial | ~$1.6 billion | ~34% | | International | ~$1.1 billion | ~25% | | Total | $4.48 billion | 100% |

Palantir's total revenue grew 56% year over year in FY2025 to $4.48 billion — and multi-year contract ceilings awarded in 2025 alone totaled over $13.7 billion. The company now runs inside the Pentagon, the CIA, ICE, the IRS, the CDC, and the Army.

The major contracts

1. U.S. Army software & data platform — $10 billion

The largest single award. A multi-year contract making Palantir the backbone data platform for Army modernization, integrating Foundry, TITAN, and Vantage across operations. Aggregates sensor data, logistics, personnel readiness, and intelligence into one operational picture.

2. Maven Smart System — $1.3 billion (cumulative)

AI-powered intelligence analysis for military targeting — processes satellite imagery, signals intelligence, and sensor data to identify threats, shortening the military's "sensor-to-shooter" timeline.

  • May 2024: $480 million (5-year prototype)
  • September 2024: $99.8 million (cross-service expansion)
  • 2025: $795 million modification; NATO expansion awarded

(Google originally won Maven in 2017; it withdrew in 2018 after ~4,000 employees protested weapons-targeting work. Palantir took it over.)

3. IRS "Mega API" / DOGE project — $1.5 billion (reported)

Palantir employees embedded at the IRS alongside DOGE staff building a unified API layer across IRS databases — a single access point to taxpayer data including returns, employment records, and bank information. Multiple members of Congress (Wyden, Ocasio-Cortez, Warren, Markey) have demanded answers from CEO Alex Karp over alleged violations of Internal Revenue Code Sections 6103 and 7213A.

4. Army Vantage — $618.9 million

SaaS analytics platform for Army readiness, logistics, and personnel data — the Army's internal business-intelligence dashboard. $400.7 million base, up to $618.9 million with options; follow-on awarded December 2024.

5. CDC disease surveillance — $443 million

Consolidates disease-surveillance data across the CDC's fragmented systems into a Foundry-powered platform. Originated during COVID-19; among Palantir's least controversial federal work.

6. ICE immigration enforcement — $287 million+ (since 2014)

  • ImmigrationOS ($30M): AI platform for identifying, tracking, and prioritizing immigrants for deportation; replaced the older Falcon and ICM systems.
  • ELITE (Enhanced Leads Identification & Targeting for Enforcement): generates dossiers on deportation targets with "confidence scores," ingesting Medicaid records, passport databases, Social Security files, IRS tax data, license-plate readers, and cell-phone location data.
  • The original Investigative Case Management (ICM) system was sole-sourced to Palantir — no competition.

7. TITAN — $178.4 million

AI-powered mobile ground stations processing space, aerial, and ground sensor data in real time for the military's CJADC2 initiative. Phase 3: $178.4 million for 10 prototype stations (5 Advanced, 5 Basic).

8. HHS blanket purchase agreement — $90 million

Makes Foundry available to all HHS agencies — CDC, CMS, NIH, FDA, SAMHSA, and others — a government-wide expansion play rather than agency-by-agency sales.

Agency breakdown

| Agency | Cumulative spend | Key systems | |---|---|---| | Department of Defense | ~$1.65B+ obligations | Gotham, Maven, TITAN, Vantage, $10B ceiling | | Department of Homeland Security | ~$320M+ | ImmigrationOS, ELITE, ICM, VOWS | | Health & Human Services | ~$588M | CDC surveillance, HHS BPA, NIH, ARPA-H | | IRS / Treasury | ~$1.5B (reported) | DOGE Mega API | | Intelligence community | Classified | Gotham (CIA, FBI) | | Department of Justice | ~$30M tracked | Various |

DoD accounts for roughly 87% of all tracked Palantir obligations through USAspending.gov — excluding classified intelligence contracts and the newer IRS/DOGE work.

In the news right now

In August 2026, a draft Pentagon memo proposed up to $244 million in no-bid Palantir work through 2028 — the latest in a pattern of sole-source awards. Read our coverage: Pentagon draft memo floats $244M no-bid Palantir federal contract.

Why this matters

Palantir's core value proposition is connecting databases never meant to be connected — Medicaid records merged with immigration data, tax returns merged with law-enforcement files. Each dataset was collected for a legitimate purpose; Palantir's software removes the walls between them. The EFF has called the ICE data-sharing "a betrayal of data privacy and taxpayers' trust," and civil-liberties groups (ACLU, Privacy International, American Immigration Council) have documented the surveillance implications.

The financial incentive structure is also worth watching: with the stock historically trading at very high earnings multiples, Palantir's valuation is effectively a bet that federal data-integration spending keeps accelerating.
